We believe that all the people have value and we work and we help those that many times are forgotten. We find it important that all the people experience friendship, compassion, and care. Because of this, we visit the homeless in Lisbon, we help and spend time with the infants that have AIDS and we spend time with those who are without shelter and feed them.
We cannot do this work alone but with the help of other organizations, churches and compassionate people. If you are interested, you can join us to help. Sends us an email with your contacts and we will reply with more information about our events and projects.

Crusaders FA
Vida Mais is the proud sponsor of the Crusaders American football team (www.CrusadersFA.com). The Crusaders FA have been playing together since 2005. We are made up of a wide variety of players. We range in ages from about 17 to 30 something. Our team participates in the newly formed Portuguese league. This league currently has about 5 or 6 teams who play both home and away. The rules are very similar to American leagues except we play 9 on 9. Anyone interested is encouraged to come join us! We practice on Sundays from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at a St Julians school, next to the Carcavelos train station. Players are expected to purchase equipment and pay a small monthly fee. Vida Mais furnishes uniforms and can assist players in purchasing equipment. Vida Mais seeks to help players develop new skills in American football as well as life. No playing experience is necessary. Many of our players are beginners. If you are interested in joining us, just show up to practice or contact one of our coaches at Team@CrusadersFA.com
Vida Mais Football Camp
Vida Mais also helps sponsor a football camp once a year. This year we are hosting our third football training camp in Cascais, Portugal. The camp is led by American football players and coaches. This year’s camp was led by a former University of Texas star linebacker and former NFL player, Dusty Renfro. Dusty was assisted by 9 other coaches and players from the United States. The camp is four days long and provides many hours of intense training. The camp provides all the food and lodging. All teams in Portugal are invited as well as anyone wanting to learn to play American football. Next year’s camp will be in June 2-5.
English
We offer opportunities for students of all ages and abilities to learn to speak English with native English speakers. In most of our class sessions, we offer classes at three ability levels: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. The classes are available throughout the Lisbon area.

Class sessions include lessons on the grammar and structure of English, reading and writing activities, and an opportunity to practice conversational English in a small-group setting. Because we believe that learning a language requires a great deal of practice, we limit the class sizes, allowing every student an opportunity to practice his/her English in each class session.

Marriage & Family Enrichment
We offer small group encounters, weekly courses, weekend seminars and retreats and private counseling (all free or at cost) to assist couples and families develop relationships that grow for a lifetime. The “coaching” approach helps avoid the staleness and conflicts that hinder so many couples and families and often have been handed down from previous generations and which are then passed on to our children and grandchildren. Age/Generational topics and challenges such as Pre-marital counseling, becoming parents, parenting teenagers and young adults, caring for aging parents, as well as managing family finances, and being prepared for the hard times in life are or can be included as appropriate.
Grief Counseling
Significant loss–whether it be the death of a loved one or friend, divorce, or forced life/career change—brings severe emotional reactions. These reactions, which are very real and uncontrollable, are called “grief.” Frequently, a person in grief does not know how to respond or work through his deep sorrow. Rede Vida Mais offers, on a needs basis, seminars for grief education as well as individual or group grief support.
The pain and agony of grief is usually overwhelming. Most people are unprepared for the ways it affects them when they experience it. We hope to help such people learn about the stages of grief, ways to work through their emotions, and provide needed support by simply walking through it with them. We offer listening ears; an abundance of compassion; and helpful, proven methods of grief management. A person will never “get over” a deep personal loss, but he can learn to enjoy life again.
